The last, and also the best.
As a final hurrah for the much loved Vantage (which had first been unveiled in 2003), Aston Martin pulled out all the stops and condensed all the best parts of every special series or limited production car into producing this car, the GT8.
With several iterations of the model having achieved success for the brand (including the much loved N400, N420, N430 and “S” Series cars), Aston knew it had to go big or go home on the last V8 special series car before the new model was launched.
Taking visual and mechanical know-how from the GT3 series, Aston sought to bring a drivers car that carried over as much of the visual and aural aggression of the race car leaving JUST enough civility that the local constabulary will not be a constant burden every time it gets taken out to be exercised.
The venerable and much loved 4.7L V8 was fettled to produce some 328kw (440hp) and have a top speed of just over 300km/h. Mated to the rapid shifting 7-speed Sportshift II automated manual, and being hauled up by massive Brembo brakes, the GT8 is probably the most desirable of the track focused Astons from the last 20 years.
With a huge Aero package comprising a serious front splitter and GT3 spec rear wing, and extensive use of carbon- fibre through out the car, the GT8 was also 100kg lighter than any V8 Vantage model before it. The one feature of the car which even outguns the visual impact of the aero package is the sound. Breathing through a bespoke titanium exhaust, the GT8 emits one of the greatest production V8 exhaust notes of all time. One motoring journalist from Evo in the UK said “you’d be happy to just spend all day sitting in your driveway revving it”.
Our stunning Sterling Green (with Lime accents) GT8 is 1 of only 2 delivered new into Australia by Aston Martin, and 1 of 150 ever made globally. With just 4,500 kilometres from new, it still has the new car feel and smell. A three owner car with full Aston Martin history and two keys, this is the car for the discerning collector who wants a useable, rare, exciting and appreciating asset.
