The best GT in the world? When it was launched, the world’s motoring press certainly seemed to think so with the car being praised universally as a triumph and a great new chapter in Astons glorious 111 year long book of hits. When the car was launched, it was the first all new car in a decade with nothing carried over save for the door handles. Succeeding the somewhat long in the tooth DB9, the new DB11 was also the first car to depart from the Ian Callum era and produce a car in-house with Marek Reichman as lead designer.
The DB11 was the first Aston to use the new 5.2L twin-turbo V12. Many were sceptical that it would rob the car of some soul as the outgoing 6.0L naturally aspirated V12 had always been loved for its vocal V12 note under load. Luckily, the techs in the tuning department knew that their customers were a fussy bunch, and the DB11 delivered everywhere (including a soulful V12 note). It was leagues ahead in terms of power over the outgoing DB9 and now produced 447kW and 700Nm of torque, paired with a slick yet smooth ZF 8-speed gearbox.
Thankfully, the interior got the all-new treatment too with the positively archaic old infotainment system being binned. Astons partnership with Mercedes as a supplier meant the DB11 got the COMAND system which was a huge improvement over anything Aston Martin could’ve done itself, even with all its R&D budget. Like any Aston, the interior is a place of true beauty. Acres of leather cover every surface and in this launch edition absolutely gorgeous ash wood trim across the doors and dash areas too.
This specific car is one of the 1000 globally limited “Launch Edition” cars which comprised the following specification:
Presented in gorgeous Magnetic Silver over contrasting Oxford Tan, this DB11 is the consummate GT and exudes style and class that few cars can match.
This is a one owner car with a full Aston Martin service history, just 15,974 kilometres, and in the much more desirable V12 configuration PLUS being a launch edition. The open road awaits its next lucky custodian.
