A Generational Icon
There are hero cars, and then there are HERO cars. The R32 Tommykaira R is most definitely the latter. A legend of the early JDM tuning world, the name Tommykaira shot to global fame in the Gran Tursimo video game franchise and was one of the hero cars in the game everyone wanted to own.
Nissan tuner cars don’t come much rarer or more desirable than this. Produced by the renowned Japanese tuning house Tommykaira, the ‘R’ features a redesigned wide body kit, three-piece alloy wheels, a tuned engine, upgraded turbochargers, a revised three-inch exhaust system, a front strut brace, Bilstein shock absorbers, and unique Tommykaira gauges, steering wheel, gear knob, and floor mats. It rides on a correct set of 17-inch three-piece split-rim Tommykaira alloy wheels finished in silver with polished lips.
Mechanically, the most significant upgrade is to the much loved RB26 DETT inline six turbo motor. Sporting upgrades to the engine and turbos, the R edition took the standard R32 GTR from 206kw to 260kw. Driving through the factory 5-speed gearbox, the R puts its power through an uprated clutch to Nissans legendary all-wheel drive system.
With just 95 examples built, this is build number TK233 (the 233 meaning the 23rd car built in 1993). This stunning car is in incredible time-warp condition and has just 42,755 kilometres from new. With everything present and correct on the car and in incredible original condition down to the standard exhaust, its as it left the Tommykaira factory in 1993. It is also presented in the rarer Spark Silver Metallic as opposed to the more common Jet Silver Metallic.
