The C63 Black Series had a hard act to follow from the CLK63 Black Series, and it delivered. The fourth AMG model to wear the coveted Black Series, it did it more than justice. The exhaust note alone will be remembered as one of the sweetest sounds emitted from a road legal. It is all about harnessing that hand-built 6.2-litre, which for a time, was the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 on the planet.
With 380kw at a bellowing 6,800rpm, this powertrain is an ode to naturally aspirated V8s and their thunderous exhaust growl. With six-way adjustable coil-overs at all four corners, and the rear axle from the E63 sedan including its clever locking limited-slip diff, the C63 Black isn’t a one trick pony.
People want what they can’t have. Just 800 AMG C63 Black Series were produced globally and only 42 allocated to Australia. But what makes this already exclusive car more elusive is the dying art of the naturally aspirated V8. The 2012 C63 Black Series will forever be the one and only C-class to don the Black Series label. It’s an automotive artwork with diminishing supply and international demand.
Unlike the CLK63 BS, the C63 BS retained its back seat, making it just that little bit more usable.
