Not much can hold a candle to the Ferrari F355 and when sermon is in, we praise the 12 or less “pre-airbag” cars that snuck into Australia before the fun/smog police caught performance and innovation empty handed with solutions that didn’t stifle the engines we loved. These Australian delivered pre-airbag cars come to market very rarely and are highly sought after for their unrestricted engine, fuss-free ECU and most importantly, that jewel of a MOMO Ferrari steering wheel that must be one of the most aesthetically pleasing ever put in a car.
1 of only 12 Australian delivered pre-airbag and pre-emissions update cars, these earlier F355s are coveted for their more responsive and free-breathing engines. Just one year into production global emissions and safety regulations made Ferrari update the car with a far more restrictive inlet system and the vastly more complex Bosch Motronic 5.2 ECU. Ferrari claimed identical power outputs, however driving them back to back, the earlier Bosch Motronic 2.7 car definitely feels sharper.
Presented in Rosso Corsa over Nero Hide, this car has just had (completed 31st May 2024) a complete head service- which is a strip and rebuild of both heads with new valve guides amongst other things, plus cam-belts and a full fluids service. The car has also had extensive interior beautification work done at great cost including all soft touch surfaces refinished to rectify the dreaded “sticky button” issue, as well as having all 4 magnesium wheels completely refurbished by a specialist including new centre-caps. This car also has the hugely desirable rear challenge grill and a genuine TubiStyle Evo exhaust with a bypass valve that makes one of the all-time great exhaust notes.
This car presents and drives like a car with vastly lower kilometres than what’s on the odometer due to the significant investment both mechanically and aesthetically.
This is a car for the discerning driver and collector.
