2015 LAND ROVER DEFENDER ADVENTURE 110 MANUAL

This Defender Adventure is one of the last-of-the-line models – built just two months before Land Rover ceased production of its iconic off-roader after 67 years.

There’s a new-generation Defender now, but it has gone decidedly upmarket in both look and price. And it’s questionable whether it will ever match the enduring charm of the original vehicle, which, despite barely evolving since 1948, appealed to fashionistas as much as it did farmers.

The Adventure was one of three limited-edition models created in 2015 to send the original Defender off in style.

It added exterior features such as LED projector headlights, thickly treaded Goodyear multi-terrain tyres, and black alloy rims.

Inside, the Adventure lends the classically utilitarian cabin a touch of extra plushness with black leather for the longer-wheelbase 110’s five seats and leather grab handles and door inserts.

Air-conditioning and front electric windows are a couple of other notable ‘luxuries’ already standard.

As with other ‘modern’ classic Defenders, this Adventure is powered by a Ford-sourced 2.2-litre turbo diesel that was first introduced in 2012 with a diesel particulate filter to help meet Euro 5 emissions regulations.

Teamed with a six-speed manual gearbox, the strong and tractable engine is part of the Defender’s repertoire that makes it one of the world’s stand-out vehicles when it comes to challenging terrain.

There’s also a dual-range four-wheel-drive system, diff locks, impressively generous approach/departure/ramp-over angles, and fantastic wheel articulation via its live-beam axle suspension.

This low-kilometres Defender Adventure, finished in Scotia Grey exterior paint, also has a few aftermarket items to help it live up to its special-edition name: a snorkel, roof rack and a CB radio.

There’s also a tow bar for a vehicle that can match dual-cab utes with a 3500kg braked towing capacity.

With less than 30,000km on the clock, this 2015 Defender is primed for plenty of big adventures ahead.
