2014 BMW M5 30 JAHRE F10 LCI AUTO

This is a genuinely rare edition of the M5 – 1 of 15 allocated to Australia, when BMW built just 300 ’30 Jahre’ models worldwide to commemorate the 30th anniversary of its super-sedan.

Exclusive touches start with an exterior finished in a matte Frozen Dark Silver, trimmed with black chrome for the grille surround, side vents and the quad tailpipes.

The M5 30 Jahre also sits on bi-colour 20-inch M light alloy wheels.

The side vents include ’30 Jahre’ badges, while inside there’s a plaque and anniversary logos are embroidered onto each seat.

Additional Alcantara is added to a cabin that includes a tactile Alcantara anthracite steering wheel.

As befitting an M car, there are more than mere aesthetic touches to celebrate three decades of the M5.

The 30 Jahre Package tightened the dampers, stiffened the springs, stiffer bushings on sway bars and lowered the suspension (lower than the Competition Package). The Active M Differential on the rear axle is enhanced for even better traction, the steering is yet more direct again, and the M GmbH engineers tweaked the M Dynamic Mode’s ESC calibration for greater playfulness.

The F10 M5’s 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 is also revised, lifting power from 423 to 441KW and torque jumping from 680 to 700Nm.

Another masterful motor from BMW M, the V8 is ladled with chunky turbocharged torque yet a strong top end also ensures performance doesn’t taper off if the driver chooses to hold a gear.

BMW quoted 3.9 seconds for the 0-100km/h standing-start acceleration run, though this M5’s performance is arguably at its most impressive once it exceeds 100km/h

It’s here where it truly lives up to its super-sedan status – a practical four-door capable of transporting driver and passengers beyond 300km/h in supreme comfort.
