2013 Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale Sports Auto

Toward the end of 2010, Maserati began devising a solution for its ever-growing customer base wanting a road-legal racer for the road.

Something lightweight, track-focussed, and with the option of a factory-fitted roll cage – to signal its intent.

The result was the 2010 Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale. The big talking points were a retuned 331kW version of its 4.7-litre naturally aspirated V, and a new quick-shifting auto transmission – directly related to what Ferrari used in its ballistic 599 GTO.

The brand dropped the GranTurismo’s kerb weight by over 100kg, mainly via the use of lightweight carbon fibre parts. Keen Tifosi will notice the seats used in two-seat MC Stradales are the same lightweight carbon buckets found in the rare MC12 supercar.

Only 20 of the two-seat MC Stradale’s were ever delivered to Australia, and it’s believed this car is one of only two fitted with the optional Maserati roll cage. The car retains both a regular road-legal seatbelt, and factory-supplied 4-point race harness.

It’s travelled just under 30,000km from new, and has been serviced exclusively by marque experts McCarolls Maserati.

Later version Stradale’s from 2013 onward were a tamed-down four-seater, without the emotion and theatre of the previous two-seat caged-up racer for the road.
