2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Convertible Manual

In 2010, an 86-year-old Carol Shelby was still up to his old tricks. In August of that year, and with Ford’s blessing, the brand bearing his name released an update of its most-fierce Mustang to date – the 2010 Shelby GT500.

The first run of cars – built in 2008 and 2009 – followed Carol’s “Big motor, light weight” philosophy to a tee. Power was addressed by installing a 5.4-litre supercharged V8, and weight by a diet of aluminium panels.

However, in true Shelby style, it wasn’t enough. The update 2010 model Shelby GT500 – like this fine example – received the same power plant as the stratospherically priced and rare GT500KR models.

As a result, 2010 GT500 models produced a huge 402kW/691Nm, made possible by a new intake and ECU upgrade. Shelby offered two body types with its 2010 GT500 – hardtop or convertible – and capped production to just 2,000 units.

This six-speed manual convertible example was imported and professionally right-hand drive converted. Now showing 27,977 KM, its provenance is supported by documentation including a detailed service history.

Sadly, the 2010 GT500 was one of the last projects Carol Shelby personally had a hand in, making it a considered buy for both enjoyment and future value.
